The Daily Gazette’s history division has finished shopping in the paper’s massive archive of photo negatives and digital photographs.

We’re unwrapping them today, in this year’s holiday edition of Capital Region Scrapbook! We’re presenting photos full of tradition and nostalgia — great memories from Decembers past.

We have a Hanukkah menorah, Santa Claus in action, a visit with Charles Steinmetz, Christmas parties, holiday lights and people just in a yuletide mood.

We hope these photos make the season merry and bright for history and holiday fans.

Many of these pix came from newspaper photographers Sid Brown, Ed Schultz, Jim Cassin and Marc Schultz. Others came from our friends at miSci and the Schenectady County Historical Society.
