The Saratoga Regional YMCA Board of Directors has named Scott Clark as the organization’s Chief Executive Officer, effective Jan. 1.
Clark has served as the organization’s interim CEO since June, and guided its branches in Saratoga Springs, Wilton, Corinth, Battenkill and Malta through its reopening phase during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We are a team,” Clark said Monday. “With our staff, our volunteers and the community, we have kept the “Y” going through challenging times. We have a variety of provided services while making sure it’s safe to do so.”
After being closed down for several months, the Saratoga Regional YMCAs were allowed to open at a 33 percent capacity on Sept. 1.
“There was a need, and we wanted to fulfill it,” Clark said.
The YMCA’s in September began to offer indoor as well as outdoor activities that included classes, stationary bikes and weight lifting.
“Our membership appreciated it, getting out and being able to do something,” Clark said.
Clark joined the SRYMCA in March as its Vice President of Operations.
“During a time when this YMCA and organizations and businesses across the country faced unprecedented challenges, Scott’s excellent leadership and deep experience made a huge difference,” said Rick Schumaker, President of the Board of Directors, in a statement announcing Clark’s appointment. “We are very pleased with the remarkable job that Scott and his team have done in recent months, and the Board’s unanimous support for this decision made that clear.”
Clark has more than 33 years of experience in YMCA operations, facilities, membership and health and wellness. He previously served as Vice President of Operations at the YMCA of Greater Kansas City which included seven full-service YMCA facilities.
“Until we can get back to full capacity, we will continue to find creative and innovative ways to serve our members and the Saratoga Springs community as a whole,” Clark said.
