ALBANY – The University at Albany women’s basketball team has postponed its next two weekend schedules of games after a member of the Great Danes’ Tier 1 personnel group tested positive for COVID-19.

UAlbany was scheduled to play host to Vermont at SEFCU Arena on Saturday and Sunday, then travel to Stony Brook for games on Friday, Jan. 8, and Saturday, Jan. 9.

Rescheduled dates will be announced by the America East conference at a later time.

Tier 1 individuals may include (but are not limited to) coaches, student-athletes, team managers and athletic trainers, and are tested three times per week in accordance with NCAA protocols.

The Great Danes’ schedule has gone through multiple changes because of COVID.

On Nov. 23, the team postponed the Nov. 29 season opener against Central Connecticut State and early-December games against Siena and Marist because of an overall surge that forced a full campus pause.

The new season opener against Hofstra was moved back four days to Dec. 11 because of a brief pause within the UAlbany team, and the Great Danes had to find another opponent on Dec. 13 when Saint Peter’s wasn’t available. That turned into a victory over Seton Hall.

On Dec. 14, the Dec. 23 game against Siena was postponed because of a pause within the Saints program.
