The Schenectady girls’ bowling team competed in one match Tuesday, yet came away with a win and a loss on its Suburban Council record.

Schenectady defeated Niskayuna 5-0 in its scheduled virtual match Tuesday behind Kiara Beehm and Ashley Wolf, who turned in 714 and 617 triples, respectively. Beehm’s three-game block was highlighted by a 268 single.

Schenectady had bowled its end of another virtual match with Columbia on Dec. 21, and Columbia was unable to compete that day due to a COVID-19 quarantine issue. Columbia rolled Tuesday, and outpinned the Patriots in a 5-0 win behind Cierra Gabriel’s 254-684 and Annie Motler’s 224-580. Beehm paced Schenectady with a 223-603.

Kiana Macapiniac turned in a 226-614, and three other Mohonasen bowlers topped the 550 mark in a 26-6 Colonial Council win over Schalmont. Marissa Phillips led the Sabres with a 228-605.

In Suburban Council boys’ matches, Parker Brown of Averill Park rolled a 716, Kyle Smith of Niskayuna had a 706, Ryan Lemay of Columbia put up a 694, and Derek Bellamy of Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake recorded a 662 in leading their teams to wins.

Madison Relyea and her Mayfield teammates logged wins at the Queensbury Nordic Invitational at Gore Mountain. Relyea covered the 5-kilometer course in 14:54.9 to earn individual honors among the girls, and Mayfield scored 10 points for the team victory. Fianna Halloran placed fourth in 17:20.2 and Delaney LaFontaine placed fifth in 17:49.5 to round out the Panthers’ scoring.

On the boys’ side, Lucas Jenkin of Queensbury notched his second triumph this winter in 12:54.4. With eight points, Queensbury was also a repeat winner in the team competition after last week’s success at the Shenendehowa/Saratoga Invitational.
