LOUDONVILLE — Siena men’s basketball will play this weekend.
Just not against Canisius.
Or at Alumni Recreation Center.
The Saints, fresh off sweeping Monmouth in their debut series, will play this weekend against Fairfield, the MAAC announced Wednesday.
Siena’s original opponent for Friday and Saturday was Canisius, but that program needed to pause in-person activities, and the MAAC’s reorganization of its league slate will now send the Saints to take on a Fairfield team that is 2-4 in MAAC play and 2-9 overall.
Siena’s games at Fairfield will take place Saturday and Sunday. Both games will start at 4 p.m.
This is the third time that a series between Siena and Canisius has been postponed since MAAC play started. The teams’ original Dec. 18-19 series was first delayed to Dec. 26-27, then was postponed to later this week before again being postponed Wednesday.
The newest make-up dates for Siena and Canisius to play are Feb. 26-27. Those games will remain Siena home games.
At one point, Siena was supposed to open its season at Fairfield, but those games were postponed because of one of the Saints’ three pandemic-related pauses of in-person activities.
Fairfield is coming off a 72-56 win against Rider to snap a four-game losing streak.
