The UAlbany football team is closing in on its official preparation for the 2021 spring football season.
Coach Greg Gattuso said in a phone interview Wednesday that around 20 Great Danes players who live off-campus have been participating in voluntary workouts during the university’s winter break. Players will be trickling back to campus over the next 10 days, with team workouts slated to open Jan. 21 in advance of the opening of full preseason camp on Feb. 4.
UAlbany, which went 9-5 in 2019 and won the program’s first-ever NCAA FCS playoff game, is scheduled to open its spring season March 6 at New Hampshire.
