LOUDONVILLE — Margo Peterson scored a season-high 21 points on 7-of-12 shooting, leading the way as the Siena women’s basketball team completed a weekend MAAC sweep of Rider with a 69-60 win Sunday at the Alumni Recreation Center.

Peterson led four Siena (2-2, 2-2) players in double figures. Isis Young chipped in 13 points for the Saints, Rayshel Brown scored 11 and Amari Anthony added 10.

Following a slow start that saw Siena shoot just 3 of 11 in the opening quarter, a 12-2 run helped the Saints take a 31-30 halftime lead, with Peterson scoring 13 of her game-high 21 points in the opening half.

A transition basket for Young set up by a Haley Blasetti steal put Siena up 37-36 in the third quarter, and the Saints never trailed the rest of the afternoon. Young’s basket, which followed a 3-pointer from Peterson, kickstarted a 14-0 run that put Siena up 50-42 heading to the fourth quarter.

Daija Moses scored 15 points and Raphaela Toussaint had a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds for Rider (1-12, 0-8).

Siena’s defense forced Rider into 17 turnovers, with four different Saints players each recording four steals. Siena also finished with a 43-33 rebounding advantage, paced by a game-high 12 boards from Marilena Gerostergiou.

Siena will be back in action this coming Friday at 4 p.m. when the Saints travel to Quinnipiac to start a two-game series.
