HALFMOON – Five people were arrested on a drug charge after a Saturday night traffic stop, state police said.
The driver was also found to be intoxicated, troopers said.
The stop happened just after 11 p.m. for a traffic violation on Guideboard Road in Halfmoon. Troopers smelled alcohol when talking to the driver and observed signs of impairment, state police said.
The driver, identified as Matthew J. Crisafulli, 22, of Halfmoon, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, troopers said. A breath sample determined his blood alcohol content to be 0.15 percent, above the legal limit of 0.08, police said.
A search of the car uncovered approximately 2.9 grams of cocaine secreted in a rear storage compartment of the driver’s seat, troopers said.
Each of those in the vehicle was charged with possession of the drugs, troopers said. They identified those as Crisafulli, Frankie T. Lazorischak, 22, of Halfmoon; Vikram J. Mangat, 23, of Watervliet; Kent R. Mohlar, 22, of Clifton Park; and an 18-year-old the state police did not identify.
Each person was charged with one count of fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony.
They processed and released to appear in court later.
