
The Colonial Council held its boys’ and girls’ bowling league championships on Wednesday, and the Rotterdam high schools took home the hardware.
Schalmont won the boys’ crown with a pin total of 3,754, while the Mohonasen girls (3,525) finished off their perfect season with a second consecutive league title.
Rounding out the top five on the boys’ side were Mohonasen (3,431), Cohoes (3,222), Voorheesville (2,936) and Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk (2,884). Cohoes’ Elijah Gillick rolled a 708 for the day’s top triple, followed by Schalmont’s Connor Stoliker with a 700. Mohonasen’s Ryan Monty had a 289 for high game.
On the girls’ side, Schalmont took second with pin total of 2,956 and Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk came in third (2,691). Mohonasen shot the high series and high game. The triple came from Madyson Jones (633), while the single game performance was delivered by MacKenzie Simmons (243).
In Suburban Council boys’ bowling, Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake remained one step ahead of Averill Park throughout the afternoon en route to a 4-1 win. The Spartans only defeated the Warriors by 19 pins in the end with both sides featuring three 600 series.
Derek Bellamy led Burnt Hills with a 685, while Parker Brown (678) paced Averill Park.
Olivia DeCitise closed out a 699 series with a 277 high game to help Troy clinch a 4-1 win over Shaker. The Flying Horses were led by John Heinze with a 218-609 and Logan Blind with a 257-607.
Jedrek Arasim rolled a 692 series with a 246 high game as Albany grabbed a 3-2 victory over Bethlehem, which got a 214-616 from Cody Martin.
Gloversville shutout Scotia-Glenville 4-0 in Foothills Council play behind a strong performance from Mark Sgambato (242-660). Jacob Leffler led the Tartans, shooting a 597 series.
Broadalbin-Perth scratched out a 3-1 victory against Johnstown, led by a 246 high game from Alex Filmer in the decisive third game. Filmer also had the Patriots high series witha 622. Mick Winton (213-601) led the Sir Bills.
Carson Griffin shot a 257-624 to pace Schuylerville to a 3-1 win over Queensbury. But the Spartans’ took the high series for the match as Cameron Fuller rolled a 633 triple.
In Suburban Council girls’ bowling, Ballston Spa outshot Bethlehem, 2,729 pins to 2,372. The Scotties’ had the high series and single for the day as Taylor Russell had a 578 triple and Kara Calaldo 254 game. The final score by games was not reported.
Niskayuna inched past Averill Park 3-2, winning overall by just two pins. Abby Bell of the Silver Warriors had the match’s high game and series with a 227-613.
Columbia shut out Saratoga Springs 5-0, despite Kadejzah Toomey’s 621 series for the Blue Streaks. Grace Steele led the Blue Devils with a 604 triple paced by a 234 high game.
