UAlbany is just more than three weeks away from its spring season opener at New Hampshire, but the Great Danes’ slate for next season was unveiled Wednesday morning as the CAA released its fall 2021 schedule.

The Great Danes will open the season Sept. 4 at North Dakota State — winner of eight of the last nine FCS national championships, including the last three in a row — before playing their home and conference opener Sept. 11 against Rhode Island. Following that, UAlbany takes on its lone FBS opponent of the year with a Sept. 18 trip to the Carrier Dome to face Syracuse.

Following a Week 4 bye, the Great Danes will play eight straight weeks to end the regular season, with seven of those games against conference opponents. The lone non-conference game in that stretch comes in the penultimate week of the season when UAlbany hosts Morgan State on Nov. 13, a week before the regular season wraps up for the Great Danes on Nov. 20 at Stony Brook.

The CAA’s eight-game conference schedule sees each team playing four home games and four road games. According to a release, “this year’s schedule has been configured to reduce travel, especially in regards to flights.”

UAlbany’s home CAA opponents will be Rhode Island, Villanova, Maine and New Hampshire, while the Great Danes will travel to Delaware, William & Mary, Towson and Stony Brook.
