The Niskayuna Community Foundation has announced it has $30,000 in funding available for 2021, and is inviting applications from local non-profit organizations who have a funding need in mind.

The grant application deadline is April 16. Guidelines and application information are available on the foundation’s website.

“When Niskayuna needs us, NCF responds, as we have for 21 years,” said NCF Board President, Fred Wetzel. “As our community struggles to recover from the pandemic, we encourage organizations that serve the needs of our residents to apply for grant funding.”

Since it gave its first awards in 2000, the Niskayuna Community Foundation has awarded more than $400,000 in grants to more than 100 different organizations that have made life better in the town of Niskayuna and strengthened its schools, the group said.

The foundation said grants have supported children in crisis, senior safety, innovative education, town-wide entertainment, and other programs that enrich lives and meet critical needs.

Full grants can range from $2,000 to $10,000, but the organization also considers small mini-grants.

To be eligible for funding, the applicant organization must be a non-profit that serves the residents of the town of Niskayuna and/or the Niskayuna School District, or an organization sponsored by either the town or school district.

Grants are awarded in the fields of health and human services, arts and culture, community development, conservation, historic preservation and recreation. Grants can be used for capital projects, including equipment purchases.
