LOUDONVILLE — The Siena women’s soccer team was picked to finish eighth in the MAAC preseason poll, it was announced Tuesday. The Saints earned 48 points.
Monmouth was picked to win the league, receiving 118 of a possible 121 points. Fairfield was second with 105 points. Rider (90 points), Quinnipiac (88 points) and Marist (68) round out the top-five. Niagara (66 points) was picked sixth, Manhattan (54 points) was seventh, Iona (39 points) was ninth, Canisius (33 points) was 10th and Saint Peter’s (17 points) was 11th.
Siena is scheduled to open the season March 16 when it hosts Iona.

Saint Peter’s is picked to win, getting six of 11 first-place votes and receiving 112 total points. Quinnipiac got five first-place votes and 111 points. Marist received 92 points, followed by defending MAAC champion Iona (91 points), followed by Manhattan (69 points), Fairfield and Rider (67 points each), Monmouth (43 points), Niagara (33 points) and Canisius (21 points).
Siena is scheduled to open the season March 11 at Rider in its first game under new head coach Graciano Brito.
