The University at Albany field hockey team was picked to finish in a tie for third with Stanford in the America East Conference coaches’ poll, the conference announced Wednesday.

The Great Danes and the Cardinal each earned 46 points Stanford received one first-place vote.

Monmouth was picked to win the conference, getting five first-place votes and earning 60 points. Maine was picked second with three first-place votes and 56 points.

New Hampshire was picked to finish fifth with 32 points, followed by California (29 points), UMass Lowell (21 points), Vermont (18 points) and UC Davis (16 points).

UAlbany’s first game is scheduled for March 9 at Fairfield.
