TROY — The Tri-City ValleyCats will open their 19th season in the Capital Region, and first in the independent Frontier League, when they travel to Ottawa, Ontario, to take on the Titans for a two-game series starting Thursday, May 27.
After playing at the Quebec Capitales (May 30-31) and Trois-Rivieres Aigles (June 1-3), the ValleyCats will host the Capitales in their Joseph L. Bruno Stadium opener Friday, June 4.
The ValleyCats, who are managed by former MLB slugger Pete Incaviglia, will play 96 games, including 48 at Bruno Stadium. They will play in the Can-Am Conference’s Atlantic Division along with Quebec, the Trois-Rivieres Aigles and the New York Boulders.
A tradition that will carry over from the ValleyCats’ New York-Penn League years is that they will be home July 4 against the Capitales.
The ValleyCats recently joined the Frontier League after they were left out of Major League Baseball’s reorganization of Minor League Baseball.
