ALBANY — A win slipped away Wednesday from the Saint Rose men’s basketball team.

Molloy topped Saint Rose 79-76 in a non-conference game at Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium, as Molloy ended the game on a 9-0 run.

After Saint Rose freshman Shane O’Dell made a free throw with 1:38 to go, the Golden Knights led 76-70. From there, things unraveled for Saint Rose, which missed all three shots it took and had two turnovers in the game’s final 75 seconds.

Molloy moved ahead 77-76 on a 3-pointer from Kenny Lazo with a half-minute to play. On Saint Rose’s ensuing possession, Molloy’s Frank Phelan stole the ball from Tray Alexander, then made two free throws before Saint Rose’s Adam Anderson missed a shot in the final seconds.

Josh McGettigan had 20 points to lead Saint Rose, while Cartier Bowman added 17 points and 11 rebounds. For Molloy, Darren Fergus scored 21 points, and James Montgomery contributed 17 points and 15 rebounds.

Molloy improved to 3-5 and Saint Rose dropped to 2-2.
