A van fire Thursday afternoon in Schenectady is still under investigation, but not considered suspicious, according to a fire official.
The Schenectady Fire Department got a call of a van on fire at 2:31 p.m. Thursday at 730 DeCamp Ave. Asst. Chief Don Moreno said when firefighters arrived no one was in the van. The fire from the van did spread to a nearby detached garage. It took firefighters around 15 minutes to douse the blaze.
Moreno said the van, which the owner bought from a church, was a complete loss. However, Moreno said the detached garage and items inside the garage look to be salvageable. He said the damage was to the exterior of the garage.
