Saint Rose women’s basketball falls to Gannon again

ALBANY — Nina Fedullo and Becca Townes each scored 16 points Sunday afternoon, but the Saint Rose women’s basketball team was unable to break through for its first win of the season, dropping a 61-47 decision against nationally-ranked Gannon at Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium.

After pushing Gannon — ranked No. 12 in the D2SIDA and No. 23 in the WBCA national polls — in a tight game down the stretch Saturday in a 62-56 loss, Saint Rose on Sunday fell victim to a 10-0 run from Gannon to close the third quarter that left the Golden Knights trailing by 16.

Saint Rose was unable to get closer than 12 points during the fourth quarter.

Fedullo was 7 of 10 from the floor and grabbed a team-high four rebounds for Saint Rose, while Townes chipped in three steals and two assists.

The loss dropped Saint Rose to 0-6.

Sam Pirosko scored a game-high 20 points for Gannon, which improved to 11-1.
