A pair of UAlbany football players received CAA weekly awards Monday following the Great Danes’ season-opening 24-20 win over New Hampshire, as linebacker Levi Metheny was named Defensive Player of the Week and wide receiver Michael Gray earned Rookie of the Week honors.

Metheny, a redshirt senior from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, made nine solo tackles among his team-high 10 total stops in Friday night’s win, spearheading a UAlbany defense that held New Hampshire to 186 yards and 11 first downs.

Gray, a redshirt freshman from West Chester, Pennsylvania, caught seven passes for 74 yards in the first game action of his college career. Gray scored UAlbany’s first touchdown of the season on a 23-yard catch-and-run that tied the game at 7-7 in the first quarter.

UAlbany (1-0 CAA, 1-0 overall) returns to action Saturday at Maine.
