Local faith communities, conservation nonprofits and racial justice organizations will hold a vigil Thursday demanding the passage of the Climate Community Investment Act by state lawmakers. The act would take $15 billion annually from corporate polluters and invest it in green jobs and renewable communities. The approximately 30-minute vigil is one of over 300 events in 40 countries planned as part of a global call for action on climate justice being organized by New York Renews and Greenfaith.
Social distancing and masks are required and people who don’t feel comfortable attending in person can join virtually. People can park at the First Reformed Church of Schenectady, 8 N. Church St. People with accessibility issues can park in a limited number of spots by the North Ferry Street entrance to the park.
