Trey Hutcheson became the third scholarship UAlbany men’s basketball player to enter into the NCAA transfer portal this offseason.

Verbalcommits.com first reported Thursday that Hutcheson had entered into the transfer portal, and Hutcheson confirmed in a text message to The Daily Gazette that he had entered into the portal that morning.

After a solid freshman season that saw the 6-foot-5 forward from Iowa average 6.7 points per game and make 25 starts, Hutcheson only totaled 166 minutes as a sophomore during UAlbany’s 7-9 campaign.

Antonio Rizzuto, UAlbany’s junior captain, entered into the transfer portal earlier this week, while redshirt junior Cameron Healy entered into the portal last week.

Jon Iati is currently serving as UAlbany’s interim head coach. Will Brown was dismissed as head coach the day after UAlbany’s season ended with a postseason loss to Hartford.
