High schools: Dashnow leads Ballston Spa girls’ soccer to 2-0 win over Amsterdam

Keira Dashnow scored both goals as Ballston Spa defeated Amsterdam 2-0 in a non-league girls’ soccer game on Wednesday.

Erin Anderson made three saves for the Scotties, who led 1-0 at halftime, and Karen Troche made 11 saves for Amsterdam.

In the Foothills Council, Scotia-Glenville blanked Johnstown 7-0, as Lucy Crounse and Rylee O’Connor each scored two goals, and goalie Kortney Clark made three saves.

Brooklyn Drago, Sage Luke and Ella Drake also scored for Scotia.

Hope Buboltz made 14 saves for Johnstown

Queensbury defeated Schuylerville 2-0, as Cara Parker scored in the fourth minute and Julia Keshmiri scored in the 67th minute.

Bayley Duffy assisted on both goals.

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake defeated Shaker, 25-12, 25-22, 25-18, as Aidan Calhoun had 24 assists and six kills for the Spartans, Liam Calhoun had nine kills and Ben Pearce had four kills and five aces.

Saratoga Springs defeated CBA 25-12, 25-12, 25-15, as Nate Krackeler had 12 assists and one ace for the Blue Streaks.

Chase Corbett had five kills and one ace for Saratoga, and Tom Bobear had five kills.

Niskayuna and Colonie swapped sets until Niskayuna pulled out the match with a 15-11 advantage in the fifth set.

The Silver Warriors defeated the Garnet Raiders 25-21, 23-25, 25-23, 19-25, 15-11.

Laith Chowdhrey had nine kills, six digs and three aces for Niskayuna; Jason Gao had four kills, eight digs, two blocks and two aces; Josh Cutting contributed four kills, six digs and three aces, Ben Tandlmayer had six kills and seven blocks; Ethan Hunt had 22 assists; and Gian Stabler recorded nine digs.

Shenendehowa defeated Bethlehem 25-17, 25-17, 25-22.

Tyler Christensen had 12 kills for the Plainsmen, Chris Bae had 9 kills and Ryan Connors and Kyle Osborne combined for 25 assists.

GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL

In a Colonial Council match, Mohonasen defeated Schalmont 25-13, 25-21, 25-19.

Natalie Blackstone had seven kills and six aces for Mohonasen, and Amanda O’Connor had 11 assists and three aces.

Mya Cordy had 13 digs for the Sabres, and Alexa Knapik had eight assists and four aces.

Holy Names defeated Ichabod Crane 18-25, 25-18, 19-25, 25-22 and 25-20.

Emma Scheitinger had bibe aces, 14 kills and 15 digs for Ichabod Crane.

In a Suburban Council match, Guilderland got past Ballston Spa 22-25, 25-10, 21-25, 25-21, 25-22.

Emily Norgrove had 17 digs, 19 kills and five aces for Guilderland; Lauren Hoyle had seven blocks, seven kills and four aces; Julia Norgrove had 20 assists and four digs; and Danielle Fedorchak had 17 digs.

Anna Pilkey led the Scotties with 19 kills, 14 digs and two aces; Sarah Bozzo had 35 assists and eight digs and Maggie Lyon had six kills and eight digs.
