TOWN OF RICHMONDVILLE – A tractor-trailer rolled over early Thursday morning in the Town of Richmondville, Schoharie County Sheriff’s officials said.

The driver was taken to Cobleskill Regional Hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released.

The incident happened at about 2:50 a.m. on the westbound offramp of I-88, officials said.

The investigation revealed the driver, identified as David Brooks, age unavailable, of Virginia, was driving north on Route 10, when he lost his brakes, crossed over Route 7 and crashed on the offramp, officials said.

Brooks was en route to Greenwich with a load of acrylic epoxy paint, officials said.

Crews and tow agencies remained on scene mid-day Thursday and the westbound ramp to get off at Exit 20 remained closed, officials said.

The Schoharie County Sheriff’s Office is handling the incident, assisted by SUNY PD, Richmondville Ambulance, Richmondville Fire Department and state DOT.

The state police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement was also notified and is looking into the incident, as well, officials said.

We don’t see many truck emergency run-offs in NYS. Certainly not seen out west and even in Vermont. Maybe time to consider them? That’s a long descent.
