Finding themselves down by seven goals late in the first half Saturday, the UAlbany women’s lacrosse team got on a run that started to get the Great Danes back into their America East Conference game against league powerhouse Stony Brook, but couldn’t sustain the momentum.

Stony Brook got six goals from Ally Kennedy, along with a goal and seven assists from Taryn Ohlmiller, and pulled away from UAlbany’s challenge for an 18-11 victory.

UAlbany (2-1 America East, 5-3 overall) found itself down 10-3 with 3:26 left in the first half, but got back in the game with a 4-0 run with tallies from Sarah Falk and Kyla Zapolski to end the first half, then Kendra Harbinger and Kaitlin Rurka to start the second half.

Stony Brook (3-0, 6-2) countered with back-to-back goals from Rayna Sabella and Jesse Arline to restore a five-goal margin, and UAlbany never got closer than four goals the rest of the way as Stony Brook secured its 15th straight win in the series.

Katie Pascale put up two goals and three assists to lead the UAlbany offense, with Harbinger, Rurka and Falk adding two goals apiece.

UAlbany is scheduled to return to action Thursday with a trip to Philadelphia for a non-conference game against Drexel before heading back into America East play this coming Saturday with a home game against Vermont. The Great Danes are scheduled to get a second shot at Stony Brook on April 24 in Albany.
