
SCHENECTADY – A woman attempting to retrieve an item on Interstate 890 was struck and injured by a tractor-trailer Friday morning, state police said.

The tractor-trailer driver spotted the situation and was able to significantly show the truck’s speed.
The incident happened at about 6:20 a.m. in the westbound line, near the Michigan Avenue overpass, police said. The woman was attempting to retrieve the item there when she was hit.
The woman, 20, was taken to Albany Medical Center for treatment. Schenectady firefighters could be seen tending to the woman at the scene.
The stretch of interstate was closed for a time after the accident, but has since reopened.
