An 850-square-foot meeting space would be added to the historic Glen House, home to the Scotia Branch Library, as part of a proposed extended lease arrangement. The deal between Schenectady County, the Schenectady County Public Library and the Village of Scotia will be considered by the County Legislature at its Tuesday, April 13 meeting.

The legislature will consider whether or not to extend the lease agreement until December 2070, superseding the current lease which ends in December 2047. Renovation plans for the library also include adding accessible bathrooms for the disabled, and repairing and stabilizing a variety of the building’s components, including the slate roof, the siding, wood windows, and the chimney. Exterior painting and the addition of stone drainage around the building exterior are also on the to-do list.
