ALBANY – A Rotterdam man was sentenced Friday to more than 11 years in federal prison for attempted enticement of a minor online, U.S. Attorney’s officials said.

Randy Eignor, 50, of Rotterdam, received a total of 11 years, 4 months at his sentencing.

Eignor pleaded guilty in the case earlier and admitted that he attempted to entice someone he believed to be a 12-year-old girl to engage in sex acts, federal prosecutors said.

Then, after days of exchanging sexually explicit text messages with the person he believed to be a child, he arranged to meet her in Colonie on Feb. 12, 2020. He was then arrested.

In sentencing Eignor, U.S. District Judge Mae A. D’Agostino found that Eignor had “previously engaged in a pattern of activity involving prohibited sexual conduct, which included his having molested three children placed in his care,” prosecutors said in a release.

The case was investigated by the FBI and its Child Exploitation Task Force, which includes members of local law enforcement agencies, including the state police, Colonie police and Rotterdam police.
