MALTA – Men from Schenectady and Mechanicville raped a 16-year-old girl in a Malta hotel room and recorded it on their phones, Saratoga County Sheriff’s officials said.

Vincent Avila, 21, of Keyes Avenue, Schenectady, and Michael T. May, 25, of Sparrow Drive, Mechanicville, were each arrested this past week and charged with one count each of felony use of a child in a sexual performance and third-degree rape, as well as misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child, officials said.

Avila is also charged with third-degree criminal sexual act, a felony, and petit larceny.

They are accused of raping the teen Jan. 28 in the Malta hotel. They brought the teen there the night of Jan. 27, “provided alcohol and drugs to said female and had sexual relations with her which were recorded on their cell phones,” officials said in a release.

Avila then disposed of items belonging to the victim, officials said.

Avila was arrested last Wednesday, May on Thursday, officials said. Avila was ordered held on $1,000 bail. May posted $1,000 bail at his arraignment.
