Siena men’s soccer falls 1-0 to top-seeded Quinnipiac in MAAC quarterfinal


The Siena men’s soccer team played tough Sunday afternoon in Hamden, Connecticut in the program’s first MAAC postseason appearance since 2016, keeping top-seeded Quinnipiac off the board until the final 15 minutes of the second half, but a David Bercedo goal in the 78th minute was enough to give Quinnipiac the 1-0 win in the quarterfinals of the MAAC tournament.

Siena kept the game deadlocked until late on the back of a huge performance from junior goalkeeper Greg Monroe. The Shenendehowa High School graduate made nine saves for the eighth-seeded Saints (2-5-1).

Quinnipiac dominated the run of play, with a 24-5 advantage in shots attempted and a 10-3 edge in corner kicks.
