The City of Albany announced Monday that it will be holding a Virtual Tulip Festival celebration throughout the month of May.
The series, presented by Citizens, will feature musical performances, tulip garden tours, prizes and more.
“While I join so many of you that are looking forward to getting back to celebrating the annual Tulip Fest the way we are accustom to, I am excited to participate in the month-long celebration of virtual Tulip Fest,” said Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan.
“I want to thank the Office of Cultural Affairs for their commitment to reinventing this and many other traditional Albany events in light of the COVID-19 outbreak and hope you and your family and friends will virtually join us for a full month of great programming.”
Virtual Tulip Festival will bring musical performances from local talents in several locations, the City of Albany gardeners will take viewers on a tour of the tulip beds and there will be videos for kids to enjoy.
Videos will premiere on the Albany Events YouTube page, on Facebook @AlbanyNYevents, as well as on Public Access Channel Albany 1302.
Updates will be announced leading up to the event. More information is available at albanyny.gov.
Last year, the annual Washington Park event was cancelled in late March and a virtual version was held.
Other festival sponsors are Hilton Garden Inn, Recovery Sports Grill, Tri-City ValleyCats, Lamar, Lark Street Yoga, WEXT 97.7 and 106.1 and Discover Albany.
The 2021 Albany Tulip Queen and Court and Mother of the Year will be presented at a later date with their own celebrations.
