High schools: Schenectady girls sweep Albany in volleyball; BH-BL, Shen, Niskayuna girls win

The Schenectady girls’ volleyball team secured a 25-18, 25-18, 25-20 victory Monday against Albany in Suburban Council play.

Marisa Gannon had 21 assists in the victory. Gelmajony Marrero Martinez contributed 10 kills and 12 digs, while Savannah Petersen added seven digs for Schenectady.

Albany’s Pheobe Popkoski contributed 25 digs, Sydney Speanburg had 18 assists and Nyla Barrow had 17 digs.

Burnt Hills’ Claire Isaksen had 27 assists and six aces in a 25-13, 25-15, 25-14 win against Ballston Spa. Carlie Rzeszotarski added 14 kills and 10 digs, and Kiera Hartpence contributed 13 digs. For Ballston Spa, Sarah Bozzo had a dozen assists.

Niskayuna defeated Bethlehem 25-23, 27-25, 25-15. Cat Schiavi had 24 kills and 12 digs, while Laura Mason contributed 31 digs and Katie Atchinson dished 18 assists in the win. For Bethlehem, Aijah Garcia had 11 kills and Ava LaClair added a dozen assists.

Shenendehowa produced a 25-21, 25-12, 25-21 win against Guilderland. Erika Macken led the Plainsmen with 25 assists and 15 digs, while Cambrie Adams had 19 digs and Rose Talty added nine kills. Heather Junjulas and Ryan Ennist each added seven kills in victory. For Guilderland, Lauren Hoyle had 11 blocks and four kills.

Mya Chrysogelos contributed seven kills and eight digs, while Shannon Coyle collected seven kills and a dozen digs in Colonie’s 25-19, 18-25, 25-11, 25-12 win against Saratoga Springs.

Fonda-Fultonville won 25-5, 25-9, 25-9 against OESJ in a Western Athletic Conference matchup. Madisyn Dineen and Marilyn Whitcavitch each had six kills in victory, while Amber Cole added 17 assists.

Gloversville collected a 25-20, 27-25, 25-22 win against Broadalbin-Perth in Foothills Council action. Macey Salvione had 16 kills and eight digs in the win, as she surpassed 1,000 career digs in the matchup. Also for Gloversville, Aireana Mulberger had 31 assists and 13 digs, Maddy Avery added 10 kills and 14 digs, and Alana Biasini had six kills. Lily Mitchell led Broadalbin-Perth with 21 assists and nine digs, while Sami Westfall had seven kills.

Scotia-Glenville defeated Amsterdam 25-12, 25-20, 25-22. Keeley Kristel had four aces and three kills in victory, Shanna Ludovici had six assists and Jojo Mustico contributed six digs. For Amsterdam, Brianna Francisco had 10 service points and two aces.

Saratoga Central Catholic topped Emma Willard 25-17, 25-20, 25-12 in Wasaren League play. Annie Naughton had nine kills, Allison Motler contributed nine assists and Kara Wengert had nine digs in victory.

Hoosic Valley defeated Mechanicville 25-19, 25-12, 25-27, 12-25, 28-26. Kate Marbot had 13 aces and Emaleigh Peckham contributed seven kills in the win, while Makayla Blake had six kills and Bella Fuschino offered six aces in defeat.

Grace D’Angelo had six aces in Tamarac’s 25-17, 25-19, 25-16 win against Berlin/New Lebanon. In defeat, Bailey Catlin had 11 service points, five kills and five digs.

Sage Luke registered a goal and three assists, while Lucy Crounse had two goals and an assist in Scotia-Glenville’s 6-0 Foothills Council girls’ soccer win against Glens Falls.

Schoharie won 8-0 against Mekeel Christian Academy in Western Athletic Conference play. Katie Krohn had three goals and an assist, while Haley Drinon registered two goals and two assists.

Izzy Mancini and Anna Miesenburg each had a goal and an assist in Galway’s 3-0 win against Berne-Knox-Westerlo. Hannah French made 12 saves in the shutout.

In a 4-0 win against Canajoharie, Northville’s Kerrigan Groff scored two goals, while Grace Foresy and Kaytelenn VanHeusen each registered a goal and an assist. Emma Peck made eight saves in the shutout.

Fonda-Fultonville’s Talia Anderson and OESJ’s Ashley Engle each scored a goal in a 1-1 tie.

Lansingburgh earned a 4-1 Colonial Council victory against Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk. Tyina Thomas and Emma Dingley each had two goals, while Eva Pickert registered four assists. Ariana Dingley had 19 saves in the win.

Ashley Cirilla had three goals and an assist in Schalmont’s 8-0 win against Cobleskill-Richmondville. Jules Monlea added one goal and two assists.

Mechanicville’s Ryleigh Hopeck and Holy Names’ Maddie Stalmer each scored a goal in a 1-1 non-league tie.

Jacob Petoff had a goal and an assist in Mayfield’s 2-0 Western Athletic Conference boys’ soccer win against Fort Plain.

Len’s Lima had three goals and two assists in Mekeel Christian Academy’s 11-4 win against Schoharie. Eli Lillenthal had two goals and an assist in the win, while teammates Danny Serendensky and Luke Kniese each had two goals. For Schoharie, Cameron Hotaling assisted each of Connor Dietz’s four goals.

OESJ won 6-0 against Fonda-Fultonville. Andew Snell had a goal and three assists, while both Jordan Simzer and Mason Snell scored two goals.

Braden Boudreau scored five goals and had one assist in Galway’s 10-0 win against Berne-Knox-Westerlo/Duanesburg. Charlie Clarke added two goals, while Rowan Smith had a goal and four assists. Henry Flint made three saves in the shutout.

Northville won 5-1 against Canajoharie. Curtis Arnold had two goals and three assists.

Saratoga Central Catholic won 1-0 against Hoosick Falls in Wasaren League action. Aiden Lambert scored off an assist from Aiden Law.

Andrew Kraszewski had two goals and an assist in Mechanicville’s 4-0 win against Greenwich. Glenn Prairie made eight saves in the shutout.

Anthony Fiacco’s 42 led Mechanicville to a 5-0 Wasaren League boys’ golf win against Hoosic Valley.

South Glens Falls field hockey won 3-2 in overtime against Johnstown in a Foothills Council match. Jillian Willis had two goals in the victory, while Anna Lee had a goal and an assist in defeat.
