High schools: Burnt Hills girls’ volleyball wins another division title

Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake girls’ volleyball defeated Niskayuna 25-11, 25-14, 25-13 Wednesday in a Suburban Council match, as head coach Gary Bynon’s program clinched its 33rd consecutive divisional championship.

Carlie Rzeszotarski contributed 19 kills, and Claire Isaksen had 33 assists in the win, while Kiera Hartpence added 12 digs.

For Niskayuna, Cat Schiavi had 14 kills, Laura Mason had 14 digs and Anjali Kurian and Katie Atchinson each offered 11 assists.

Shenendehowa won 25-23, 25-12, 25-14 against Saratoga Springs. Kasia Barletta led the Plainsmen with 32 digs, Rose Talty had seven kills and eight digs, Emma Paliwodzinski dished 16 assists and Grace Almeida added six kills.

Averil Park defeated Shaker in five sets. Averill Park was led by Allison Lapinski with 53 assists, Emma Burdick had 20 kills and five blocks, and Anna Jancovic had 14 kills and 21 digs. For Shaker, Brianna Hardwick had 18 assists, five kills and seven aces, and Layla Shipley contributed nine kills and seven digs.

Albany defeated Bethlehem 25-17, 25-21, 25-22. Abiyah Yahuda Edwards had 15 kills, and Sydney Speanburg contributed 32 assists in victory.

Columbia won a four-set match with Colonie 15-25, 25-17, 25-22, 25-15. Arricca Silliman had 43 assists and 19 digs in the win, while Leah Phillips had a dozen kills.

Gloversville defeated Mayfield 25-16, 25-15, 25-14 in a non-league match to improve to 11-0 on the season. Aireana Muhlberger contributed 30 assists in the win, Maddy Avery had 10 kills and 15 digs, Macey Salvione had 10 kills, 10 digs and eight aces and Hailee Thompson added 10 kills. For Mayfield, Lila King had 10 assists and eight digs.

Mechanicville won 25-14, 25-20, 24-26, 25-11 against Hoosic Valley in Wasaren League play. Hailie Phelps had a dozen kills in victory, while Olyvia Enzien and Caileigh Lyond each contributed seven aces. Emaleigh Peckham had nine kills for Hoosic Valley.

Stillwater picked up a 25-19, 25-17, 25-18 win against Cambridge. Stillwater’s Eden Resch had four kills, and Ryleigh McDonough had four aces. For Cambridge, Jaylyn Prouty contributed seven aces, and Marykate Lebarron dished seven assists.

Ichabod Crane won 25-18, 25-21, 25-19 against Schalmont in a Colonial Council matchup. Darby Siver had 16 kills, Clare Knapp registered 25 assists and Emma Scheitinger contributed six aces and nine kills in victory. For Schalmont, Alexa Knapik had 14 assists, April Buechner had nine kills and Mya Cordy added 10 digs.

Shenendehowa won 25-22, 25-22, 13-25, 25-21 in Suburban Council boys’ volleyball against Columbia. Will Licata had 12 kills and Jason Aubrey had 11 for the Plainsmen.

In boys’ soccer, Northville won 5-0 against Fonda-Fultonville in a Western Athletic Conference matchup. Josiah Jensen had three assists in the win.

Mekeel Christian Academy won 9-0 against Berne-Knox-Westerlo/Duanesburg. Eli Lilienthal led the way with five goals.

Katie Krohn had four goals and three assists in Schoharie’s 10-0 Western Athletic Conference girls’ soccer win against Middleburgh. Megan Krohn added two goals, while both Haley Drinon and Morgan Phelan had a goal and an assist.

Olivia Harris scored three goals in Duanesburg’s 4-1 win against Galway.

Brigid Duffy scored three goals, and Christina Cummings had three assists in a 4-0 Foothills Council win for Queensbury against Hudson Falls. The game was called at halftime because of unplayable field conditions.

Bethlehem defeated Scotia-Glenville 12-3 in a non-league girls’ soccer matchup.
