School roundup: Reedy, Kolpakas lead Galway girls volleyball

In a Monday showdown between Western Athletic Conference girls’ volleyball division winners, Galway defeated Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons 25-10, 25-14, 25-23.

Galway was led by Julia Reedy with 15 kills and three aces, while Amber Kolpakas added 10 kills and four aces, Katy Kurtzner contributed six kills and 11 digs, Sadie Underwood had six kills and Kylee Decker dished out 18 assists.

For Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons, Ryenne Relyea registered nine kills, Kathryn Braun had 18 assists and Marissa Correra added a dozen digs.

Mayfield won 25-19, 26-24, 25-12 against Mekeel Christian Academy. Deandra Myers led Mayfield with 13 kills, 16 digs and eight aces, while Lila King added 20 assists, 10 digs and seven kills.

In a Foothills Council matchup, Gloversville won 25-10, 25-5, 25-11 against Scotia-Glenville. Aireana Muhlberger had 22 assists, Macey Salvione contributed 13 kills and Maddy Avery had 15 digs in the win.

In a Wasaren League match, Tamarac won 25-10, 25-14, 25-8 against Cambridge. Catrina Murphy had six kills and Maddie Murphy had six aces in the win.

Hoosic Valley won 25-22, 11-25, 25-15, 25-23 against Saratoga Central Catholic. Emaleigh Peckham had eight kills and 11 aces in the win, while Annie Naughton registered 11 kills and 11 aces.

In the Suburban Council boys’ volleyball playoffs, Shenendehowa defeated Colonie 25-12, 25-12, 25-13. Chris Bae had 11 kills and Jason Aubrey contributed 10 in the win, while Ryan Connors and Kyle Osborne combined for 35 assists.

Shenendehowa will play Columbia, which defeated Saratoga Springs 25-23, 25-12, 25-13. Jeremy Garrigan had 27 assists in the win, while Jacob Curtis had 12 kills and Henry Heeps added 11, and Jordan DiSanto contributed 20 digs.

Bethlehem topped Shaker 25-14, 25-20, 25-20. Danny Batista had 27 digs, Colin Lynch had 27 assists, and Stephen Shaw contributed 15 digs and 10 kills for Bethlehem.

Fonda-Fultonville boys’ soccer earned its first win of the season with a 2-1 victory against Fort Plain in a Western Athletic Conference match. Cody Hanson had a goal and assisted Mike Carpenter’s score in the win, while Jake Sisco made 10 saves.

Northville topped Mayfield 2-1. Brody Deal put Mayfield up 1-0 in the first half, but Landon Ginter scored twice after halftime.

Braden Boudreau scored six goals in Galway’s 11-0 win against Schoharie, while Charlie Clarke registered two goals and five assists. Rowan Smith added two goals and two assists.

In a Colonial Council playoff matchup, Albany Academy topped Voorheesville 5-1. Harry Haworth registered two goals and three assists in the win.

Drew Kusek scored all three goals in Schalmont’s 3-2 win against La Salle.

In a Colonial Council girls’ soccer matchup, Mohonasen won 3-2 against Voorheesville. Matti Muller, Matti Swan and Catelyn Hodge each scored for Mohonasen.

Cohoes won 2-0 against Ichabod Crane. Quincy Hytko and Carissa Shanahan each scored a goal, while Andraya Hunt made 11 saves in the shutout.

Haley Drinon scored four goals and dished an assist in Schoharie’s 10-1 Western Athletic Conference win. Katie Krohn added three goals and two assists, while Briana Repscher scored two goals, and Megan Krohn contributed one goal and two assists.

Natalie Caponera scored for OESJ and Mariah Hazzard had Canajoharie’s goal in a 1-1 tie.

Queensbury won 5-0 against South Glens Falls to finish 11-0 in the Foothills Council. Brigid Duffy scored three goals, while Christina Cummings had two goals and an assist.

Johnstown produced a 5-1 Foothills Council field hockey win against Scotia-Glenville. Taryn Ringer registered two goals and scored her career’s 300th point, while Anna Lee had two goals and two assists in victory.

In a 6-0 win against Glens Falls, Queensbury’s Kamdyn Bashant earned her 20th career shutout to become the school’s all-time leader in that category. Previously, Bashant was tied at 19 shutouts with Tracey Helm.

Saratoga Central Catholic scored a 5-0 Wasaren League boys’ golf win against Mechanicville.
