High schools: Behrman, Vorgang power Niskayuna boys’ lacrosse to victory

Brock Behrman contributed nine points, and Greyson Vorgang had eight in the Niskayuna boys’ lacrosse team’s 24-2 non-league win Saturday against La Salle.

Vorgang had seven goals and an assist, while Behrman had five goals and four assists.

Lucas Klokiw and Cooper Wilson each added three goals, while Wilson had an assist.

In a Suburban Council game, Guilderland won 13-7 against Saratoga Springs. Caleb Jacobson had seven goals and an assist in the win.

Burnt Hills won 17-4 against CBA. JD Townsend starred with six goals and six assists, while Kevin Carney added five goals and two assists.

Max Christiansen had five goals in Ballston Spa’s 21-2 win against Colonie, while Geno DeRubertis contributed two goals and five assists, and Antonio Rossetti had four goals and two assists.

COYLE SCORES 9

Colonie’s Shannon Coyle scored nine goals and had an assist in Colonie’s 21-8 Suburban Council girls’ lacrosse win against Ballston Spa. Abby Mesick added four goals and two assists in the win.

In an 18-8 win against Guilderland, Carly Wise registered seven goals and an assist for Saratoga Springs. Isabel Burke, Morgan Brooking and Clare Wendell each added three goals and two assists.

Avery Jones had six goals and three assists in Bethlehem’s 18-3 win against Shaker.

Kira Tucker had five goals and three assists in Shenendehowa’s 24-0 win against Albany. Sara Stalica had four goals and an assist.

WYANSKI WINS NO. 350

Duanesburg won 11-1 against Berne-Knox-Westerlo in five innings. Kyle Williams recorded his first varsity pitching win in a performance that included six strikeouts in the Western Athletic Conference baseball game. Williams also had three RBIs. The victory was career No. 350 for coach Chris Wyanski.

Mike Zelezniak, Joe Herbst and Eric Zelezniak combined to pitch a no-hitter as part of Galway’s 24-0 win against Northville that was called after the top of the fifth inning. Eric Zelezniak added four hits in the win, while Brendan Shader hit a home run.

In a Wasaren League matchup, Mechanicville powered to an 11-0 win against Stillwater. Devin Garland picked up the win, while William Coreno, Ryan Grimmick and Scott Lynch each had two RBIs.

Ben Hajos had three hits, and Anthony Barile and Chris Gill had two hits each to leads Saratoga Central Catholic past Waterford-Halfmoon 8-5. One of Barile’s hits was a triple.

Aidan McPhail had a home run, two doubles, singles and five RBIs in Greenwich’s 23-8 win against Stillwater. Aidan Waite had four RBIs and Joey Skiff had three, while Jesse Kuzmich struck out 10 batters and hit a triple.

In Suburban Council play, Dylan Tierney had three hits and five RBIs in Columbia’s 17-2 win against Averill Park. In another game between the teams, Brandon Biggane had five hits in a 16-0 win for Columbia, while Nicholas Clute struck out five in the complete-game shutout win.

Shenendehowa won 17-0 against Albany. Evan Grimes and Alex Sandberg each hit a home run, while Grimes had four RBIs.

Ty Santabarbara struck out nine batters in a complete-game pitching effort as part of Guilderland’s 4-1 win against Saratoga Springs. Patrick Deschaine hit a home run in defeat.

Micah Forgette doubled, then scored on Derek Robinson’s walk-off RBI single as Scotia-Glenville won 2-1 against Glens Falls in a Foothills Council game.

Mike Visco pitched 6 2-3 innings in leading Broadalbin-Perth to a 10-2 win against Queensbury. Visco was also 2 for 4 with a double.

South Glens Falls won 10-3 against Gloversville. Justin Nesbitt doubled, tripled and had an RBI in the win.

SHENENDEHOWA’S ZAWISTOWSKI STARS IN SOFTBALL WIN

Becca Zawistowski struck out eight batters and hit a home run in Shenendehowa softball’s 12-0 Suburban Council win against Albany. In the five-inning game, Zawistowski allowed one hit. Kelly Powell also hit a home run for the Plainsmen, while Hannah Smith had three RBIs.

Jaclyn Dyer had three hits and five RBIs in Colonie’s 11-8 win against Ballston Spa.

Troy won 22-0 against Schenectady in a game stopped after the top of the fifth inning. Maryssa Sano was 4 for 4 with a double, three runs scored and five RBIs, while Jody Rogers doubled as part of a four-hit day that included four RBIs and three runs scored.

Averill Park and Columbia met in a doubleheader. Averill Park won 7-2 in the first game, while Columbia won 6-5 in the second. Madi Rose of Averill Park had four hits on the day.

DUO DAZZLES

Richie Tamsett and Jack Montanye combined Friday to pitch a six-inning no-hitter in Canajoharie’s 10-0 win against Middleburgh.

Tamsett struck out seven batters in four innings, while Montanye had three strikeouts in two innings.
