SARATOGA SPRINGS – A Latham man broke into a Saratoga Springs apartment late Thursday then fled after being confronted by the resident, police said.
Police soon tracked down the suspect, as he drove nearby police said. Police then found him to be intoxicated.
Police identified the suspect as Joshua John, 25, of Latham. He faces one count each of second-degree burglary, a felony, along with misdemeanor aggravated DWI and other counts.
The incident began just before midnight Thursday night when police received a call for a burglary in progress on Broadway, near Caroline Street, police said.
The caller, 64, reported she was in her apartment and an unknown man began climbing in through an open living room window just prior to her call. The woman had no idea who the man was and yelled at him, police said. The man then left back through the window and took off on foot, police said.
Officers in the area then soon located the suspect based on the woman’s description. Officers found him behind the wheel of a car at Broadway and Division Street.
Police determined John was intoxicated and that he had a blood alcohol content of 0.18 or more. A release did not include a specific BAC.
John was arraigned and ordered held on bail.
