Desiree L. Brownell, 43, of Edinburg, was arrested last week and charged with one count of third-degree falsely reporting an incident, a misdemeanor, state police said.

The incident happened April 30 as troopers responded to a one-car crash on County Route 152 in Northampton, state police said. When troopers arrived at the scene, they found the vehicle unoccupied and on its roof.

Brownell is then accused of reporting the car stolen after the crash. After an investigation, though, troopers determined that Brownell had been driving the vehicle herself, state police said.

Brownell turned herself in to troopers last week. She was processed and released to appear in court later.
