High schools: Falace smacks two HRs, leads Niskayuna baseball to win; CBA beats Shen

Sam Falace hit two home runs, including a grand slam, as part of a six-RBI day in Niskayuna’s 22-9 Suburban Council baseball win Monday against Guilderland.

Jack Pechar and Brody Johnson each added three hits in the win.

The teams combined to score 24 runs in the game’s first two innings, but Niskayuna’s Tanner Wood contributed 5 1-3 innings of scoreless relief pitching.

Cam Aery had a walk-off RBI single to lead Colonie past Shaker 11-10. Jesus Sarda hit a three-run home run for Colonie.

Averill Park scored all its runs in the third inning of its 13-3 win against Burnt Hills. Mike Agro doubled twice in the win, while Steve Koval had a three-RBI double. Nate Deluke and Kyle Kristel each had RBI singles in defeat.

Joe Gold struck out six batters in four scoreless innings to help lead CBA to a 5-3 win against Shenendehowa. Ryan Bilka and Michael Palumbo each had two RBIs for CBA, while Jack Griffin had two RBIs for the Plainsmen.

Saratoga Springs defeated Ballston Spa 3-1. Patrick Deschaine and Alexander Teator each had two hits in the win, while Chance Checca had two hits for Ballston Spa.

Columbia defeated Albany 7-0. Jack Bennett struck out 11 batters in his one-hitter, while Brandon Biggane and TJ Strevell each hit a home run.

Amsterdam scored twice in the seventh inning to tie it up and added two more in the eighth, but Queensbury answered with three runs in its half of the extra inning to secure an 8-7 Foothills Council win. For Queensbury, Matthew Conlon had three hits and Charlie Darrah had three RBIs. For Amsterdam, CJ Durinick had a triple and scored three runs. Carson Cotugno added three hits and two RBIs for Amsterdam.

South Glens Falls won 4-1 against Broadalbin-Perth. Daniel Cohen struck out 13 batters in the win, and had two hits and two RBIs.

Kyle Robare had three hits and Alex Payne had three RBIs in Gloversville’s 8-7 win against Schuylerville.

In a Colonial Council game, Albany Academy won 5-2 against Ichabod Crane. Geneo Savoca picked up the win, striking out eight batters and allowing one earned run in five innings of work.

La Salle won 11-9 against Schalmont despite a double, triple and five RBIs from the Sabres’ Aiden Jasenski. Nick Dellucia also hit a home run for Schalmont. For La Salle, Eddie Girtler picked up the save in relief of winning pitcher Kaden Krezminski. Girtler also hit a home run and had three RBIs.

In the Wasaren League, Mechanicville won 6-5 against Tamarac. Anthony Fiacco contributed four RBIs in the win, while Greg Mays hit two home runs and had four RBIs in defeat.

Fonda-Fultonville won 14-2 against Northville in a Western Athletic Conference matchup. Bonnz DiCaprio had three hits and had an RBI, while Tyler Daus and Ashton Glasser each had two RBIs.

Fort Plain won 4-0 against Duanesburg. Austin VanGorder struck out 10 batters in securing the win, and contributed two RBIs. Troy Butler had two hits for Fort Plain.

WALK-OFF RBI HIT LIFTS TARTANS

Scotia-Glenville’s Jordan Iannotti had a walk-off RBI hit to lead Scotia-Glenville to a 4-3 win against Amsterdam in a Foothills Council game. Shelby LaMont had a two-run home run for Amsterdam in the sixth inning, and Amsterdam had tied it at 3 in the top of the seventh after Natalie Flint tripled and scored on a wild pitch.

South Glens Falls won 10-1 against Queensbury. Hannah Breen struck out 13 batters in the victory, and was 3 for 4 with three RBIs and scored two runs. Deme Kellogg added two hits and two RBIs.

Ballston Spa scored a 20-7 win against Saratoga Springs in Suburban Council play. Julia Russell reached base safely six times and had four hits, four RBIs and scored four runs in the win, while Taylor Russell had three hits, plus three RBIs. Paige Witalec and Halle Wright each had three RBIs in the win. Livia Wiltsie struck out six and picked up the pitching win. Ballston Spa has scored 50 runs through its first three games, and Monday’s contest was the team’s second of the season with at least 20 runs.

Bethlehem won 21-1 against Schenectady after scoring 16 runs in the first inning. Ella Traynor had four hits in the victory.

Averill Park won 3-1 against Burnt Hills. McKenzie Swinson had a two-RBI triple and scored Averill Park’s third run.

In a Colonial Council game, Mohonasen won 8-5 against Lansingburgh. Mattison Muller had three singles, while Keeley Herrick singled, doubled and had two RBIs in the victory.

Duanesburg won 16-1 against Fort Plain/OESJ in a Western Athletic Conference matchup that was called after the top of the fifth inning. In the win, Maddie Kenney had two doubles, a single and three RBIs, plus struck out 10 batters in picking up the pitching win. Shannon Zink and Victoria Silva each had a double and a single, while Silva had three RBIs and Zink had two. For Fort Plain/OESJ, Jade Dygert singled twice.

Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons won 9-7 against Mayfield. In the win, Marissa Carrera was 4 for 4 with two doubles and three runs scored, while Ryenne Relyea hit a home run, doubled and had four RBIs. Emery Sawitzki doubled as part of a two-hit day in the victory. For Mayfield, Heather Ginter had a home run as part of a three-hit day that produced five RBIs, while Alexis Broderick had four singles and Jillian Botch struck out 15 batters.

In the Wasaren League, Tamarac won 7-2 against Mechanicville. Moira Collins struck out 11 in picking up the win, while Abby Buckley had a triple and two RBIs. For Mechanicville, Patty Snyder had three hits.

NICHTER LEADS SCOTIA LACROSSE IN WIN

Morgan Nichter had seven goals and two assists in Scotia-Glenville’s 15-6 Foothills Council girls’ lacrosse win against Johnstown. Olivia Geniti added five goals and two assists in the victory, while Abby Esperti contributed two goals and three assists, and Maya Westbrook had nine saves.

Gabby Rivera had seven goals and an assist in Columbia’s 16-4 win against Albany in Suburban Council play.
