College softball: RPI, Skidmore eliminated in Liberty League semifinals


Both RPI and Skidmore lost Wednesday in the Liberty League softball semifinals.

Skidmore fell 4-0 at Rochester. Toni Anne Hahn had a three-RBI double in the fourth inning that saw top-seeded Rochester score all of its runs, which were all earned. Rochester’s Hannah Leahy struck out six in recording the shutout win.

Five Skidmore players recorded a hit apiece, while Hannah Davis struck out three in six innings. Kaitlyn Judd reached base safely in three plate appearances with a hit, walk and hit by pitch.

In Saturday’s league final, Rochester will play Ithaca, which defeated RPI 2-0. RPI was no-hit in the defeat, as Beth Fleming struck out seven and walked three. Ithaca scored both its runs in the sixth inning, and both runs were unearned in an inning that saw RPI commit two errors.

Brooke Sroczinski, who pitched one inning, took the loss for RPI. In five innings, Alexis Cooke struck out seven and walked three. Both RPI pitchers allowed one hit.

Skidmore finished at 11-9 on the season, while RPI finished at 10-5.
