High schools: Geniti’s six goals spark Scotia-Glenville girls’ lacrosse win

Olivia Geniti registered six goals and three assists in Scotia-Glenville’s 18-4 Foothills Council girls’ lacrosse win Friday against Amsterdam/Broadalbin-Perth.

Abby Esperti contributed four goals and two assists in the win, while Kayla Cannoe added three goals.

Four different players scored for Amsterdam.

In Johnstown’s 13-4 win against Greenwich, Taryn Ringer had five goals and an assist. Molly Memrick contributed three goals and three assists, while

Lindsay Lamori made a dozen saves in the win.

RALLY LIFTS NISKAYUNA BASEBALL

Trey LaVigne’s three-RBI double with two outs in the top of the seventh inning pushed Niskayuna past Ballston Spa for a 10-8 Suburban Council baseball win. LaVigne’s double was part of a five-run final frame for Niskayuna, which trailed 6-3 after two innings. Max Rowden had two hits and five RBIs for Niskayuna, while Brody Keneston had two hits and three RBIs for Ballston Spa.

In a 14-10 win against Columbia, CBA scored 10 runs in the fourth inning. William Baumann had two home runs and eight RBIs in the win. In defeat, Brandon Biggane had two home runs, a double and six RBIs as part of a four-hit performance.

Saratoga Springs won 6-4 against Shaker. Patrick Deschaine had two home runs and four RBIs in the win.

Cameron Aery had a home run and three RBIs in Colonie’s 7-6 win against Schenectady.

In a 1-0 win against Guilderland, Troy’s Mike Kennedy and Davin Kendall-Tuckey combined to pitch a dominant game. Kennedy struck out a dozen in five innings, while Kendall-Tuckey struck out five batters in two innings. Jaleel Goodbee had Troy’s RBI.

Damon Mason had three hits in Averill Park’s 13-4 win against Albany.

Fort Plain secured a 15-2 Western Athletic Conference win against Middleburgh. Austin VanGorder had five RBIs in the victory, while Troy Butler tripled as part of a three-hit performance with four RBIs. Will Churchill had a single, double and scored two runs for Middleburgh.

Fonda-Fultonville won 4-2 against Galway. Kyle Lawyer had two hits for Fonda-Fultonville, while Michael Zelezniak had two for Galway.

John Grant had three RBIs in Duanesburg’s 7-3 win against Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons.

In Wasaren League play, Jesse Kuzmich struck out seven in four innings to pick up the win in Greenwich’s 13-2 victory against Hoosic Valley. Aidan

McPhail had a double, single and three RBIs in the win, while Matt Conlin had a single, triple and two RBIs.

Jacob Nasadoski had two hits — including a tie-breaking, two-run single in the fifth inning — and Matt Hughes allowed two singles in five sharp innings as Amsterdam beat Schuylerville in a Foothills Council game 4-0. Tommy Ziskin hit an RBI single for the Rams, and Carson Cotugno scored on a double-steal and struck out five in two innings of hitless relief.

Queensbury won 14-0 against Johnstown. Logan Smith led Queensbury with a double, single and three runs scored.

Broadalbin-Perth won 11-2 against Glens Falls. Jake Terwilliger had four hits and four RBIs, and pitched four innings. On the mound, Terwilliger struck out five and allowed one earned run.

Gloversville won 5-0 against Hudson Falls. Dane Dillenback struck out nine in the complete-game shutout, while Cole Raczynski had two RBIs.

Zowen Collins and Colton Sisson each hit a home run in Cobleskill-Richmondville’s 9-7 Colonial Council win against Voorheesville.

BELL, SOLTIS LEAD SARATOGA SPRINGS SOFTBALL
In Suburban Council action, Saratoga Springs won 12-0 against Shaker. Lindsey Bell hit a home run and had three RBIs. Earning the pitching win was Ryann Soltis, who allowed one hit and walked one in a five-inning shutout. Soltis also had three hits.

Troy won 7-2 against Guilderland. Maryssa Sano had a home run as part of a three-hit day that included two RBIs. Irene Dill had two doubles, a walk and an RBI in the loss.

Anna Pilkey struck out four batters in a complete-game pitching effort, as she helped to lead Ballston Spa to a 3-0 win against Niskayuna. Taylor Russell and Allison Piscitelli each had two hits in the victory.

In a 13-1 win against Schenectady, Colonie’s Emily Ellenwood struck out eight in five innings.

Abbey Nagel hit a home run and had four RBIs in Averill Park’s 13-1 win against Albany, while Riley O’Brien contributed three hits and three RBIs.
Amsterdam won 17-0 against Broadalbin-Perth in Foothills Council play. Jordyn Wozniak and Shelby LaMont each hit a home run in the win. LaMont had five RBIs in the game, while Wozniak had three as part of a three-hit day that also included a double. Sydney Szczepanik struck out six in recording the shutout.

Morgan Ebert had a three-RBI single in the seventh inning of Scotia-Glenville’s 4-0 win against Glens Falls. Gina Cassaro struck out four batters and allowed one hit in the win, which improved Scotia-Glenville to 5-0 on the season.

In Western Athletic Conference action, Middleburgh won 8-4 against Fort Plain/OESJ. In defeat, Rylee Herron had a triple, RBI and scored a run, while Marissa Wilder had a double, RBI and scored a run.

Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons won 12-2 against Duanesburg. Juliana Tortello had a home run and three RBIs, while Marissa Correra had three hits and two RBIs. Emery Sawitzki added two hits, and Ella Sawitzki contributed two hits and four RBIs.

Voorheesville won 8-3 against Cobleskill-Richmondville in a Colonial Council game. Amanda Danz struck out 14 in the complete-game win, while Ella Kelly had three singles, a triple and two RBIs.
