Rape charge dismissed against Cohoes man, Albany County District Attorney’s office says

ALBANY – A rape charge filed against a Cohoes man arrested in April has been dismissed after a grand jury took no action in the case and did not indict him, an Albany County District Attorney’s official said.

Julio A. Salas, then 34, was arrested in August by police in Colonie on one count of first-degree rape, a felony. He had been taken into custody in Rotterdam.

The arrest stemmed from allegations police received from a woman that Salas had raped her, authorities said then. Salas denied the accusation.

Prosecutors later presented the case to a grand jury and the grand jury took no action against Salas. The result means the case against Salas has been formally dismissed, a district attorney’s spokeswoman said.
