High schools: Schalmont baseball rallies for 10-9 victory

Schalmont scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning, rallying for a 10-9 win over Lansingburgh Wednesday night in Colonial Council baseball action.

Kyle Franke went 1-for-3 with a run scored and two RBIs for the Sabres. Christian Totorici went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI, with Andrew Schraa going 1-for-2 with two runs scored and two RBIs for Schalmont.

Cobleskill-Richmondville scored 17 runs on 13 hits, shutting out Watervliet 17-0. David Nicholas went 4-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Colton Sisson went 2-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBIs. Five Bulldog pitchers combined for the shutout.

Three big innings propelled Broadalbin-Perth past Johnstown 17-12 in the Foothills Council.

Jake Terwilliger went 3-for-4 with five RBIs, including a triple and three runs scored for the Patriots. Jake Pavone went 2-for-4, including a double with three runs scored and RBI.

Dawson Sangres went 3-for-3 for the Sir Bills, including a home run, scoring three times and driving in four runs. Jared Stewart went 2-for-4 with a run scored and three RBIs.

Amsterdam scored a run in the bottom of the eighth inning to beat Scotia-Glenville 2-1. Tommy Ziskin went 2-for-4 with a run scored for the Rams. Tartan starter Andrew Wilson struck out 12 batters in seven innings of work. He gave up a run on three hits and walked two batters.

Aiden Hirsch went 3-for-5 with four RBIs, and Holden LaMountain went 2-for-5 with 3 RBI as Glens Falls dropped Schuylerville 14-5. Carson Patrick went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, and Otto Bolduc went 2-for-3 for Schuylerville.

Shenendehowa used a four-run seventh inning to distance itself from Columbia, 9-4 in Suburban Council action. Jacek Strain went 3-for-5 with a home run, driving in five runs and scoring twice. Jack Griffin went 2-for-4 with a run scored.

Connor Singsheim went 4-for-5 with a run and two RBIs as Niskayuna beat Schenectady 17-3. Max Rowden went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and four RBIs.

Jared Lee hit a go-ahead RBI triple in the bottom of the fifth inning as Averill Park edged CBA 8-7.

Mike Kennedy struck out 14 batters for Troy, with Shaker’s Ryan Bates answering with 10 of his own, but the Flying Horses scored twice late to get past the Bison 2-0.

Colonie’s Dan Barbero hit a grand slam, but it wasn’t enough to get past Guilderland, 6-5. Nick Plue and Ben Gilbert each had two hits for the Dutchmen.

A six-run rally by Albany wasn’t enough to chase down Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, holding off the Falcons 14-8. Jack Duane went 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs, and Kyle Decrease went 2-for-5 with three RBI for the Spartans.

Fort Plain’s Troy Butler struck out 18 batters in a one-hit, 6-1 win over OESJ in Western Athletic Conference action. At the plate, Butler singled, stole three bases and scored a run. Matt Travis delivered two singles, stole two bases and scored a run for Hilltoppers.

Mason Small struck out six for OESJ in his 6 1/3 innings of work. Jesse Walrath had a double and a run scored. Alex Yash, Steve Kovla and Ben Romer had two hits each for the Warriors.

Canajoharie used an eight-run seventh inning to get past Duanesburg 11-8.  John Grant hit a two-run home run, and Matt Coons hit a solo home run for the Eagles.

Tyler Sweet went 2-for-4 for Fonda-Fultonville to lead the Braves past Galway 6-3. The Eagles’ Eric Zellezniak went 2-for-4 with four RBI, and Ryan Pudney followed with a 2-for-4 night with a double and an RBI.

Jason Ford scored the winning run on a passed ball in the bottom of the eighth as Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons edged Middleburgh 10-9. Nick Mendoca hit an RBI double to score Xavier Pahler from first to knot the score 9-9 in the bottom of the seventh.

Hunter Fales went 3-for-4 with two runs scored as Saratoga Central Catholic defeated Hoosick Falls 12-10 in Wasaren League action. Pierce Byrne went 2-for-5 with a double and three RBIs. Hoosick Falls’ Andrew Sparks went 4-for-5 with a triple and three RBIs.

Ronan Rowe went 4-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and three runs scored as Saratoga Central Catholic defeated Hadley-Luzerne 12-2 in a non-league game. Saint’s Ryan McCarroll went 2-for-3 with a double and scored twice.

Saratoga Springs held off Queensbury’s late two-run rally for a 4-3 win. Michael Mack went 1-for-3 with a run scored and two RBIs, and Noah Joly went 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI.

Keeley Herrick went 6-for-6 with seven RBIs and three runs scored as Mohonasen shut out Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk 25-0 in Colonial Council softball action. Mattison Muller went 3-for-4 with four RBIs and five runs scored. Amanda O’Connor went 3-for-4 with four runs scored in the win. Kiera Rogers struck out 11 batters in five innings.

Emily Harrington went 3-for-5 with four runs scored and two RBIs as Hudson Falls defeated Broadalbin-Perth 12-3 in the Colonial Council.

Danielle DeBonis went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBIs as Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake dropped Albany 12-2 in Suburban Council action. Carlianna Ewing went 3-for-4 with two runs scored for the Spartans.

Michelle Osborn went 2-for-4 with three RBIs as Shenendehowa dropped Columbia 6-2. Mariana Abate struck out 13 for the Plainmen in the win.
Anna Cleary stuck out 10 as Bethlehem defeated Ballston Spa 6-1. At the plate, Cleary went 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Ella Traynor went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Allison Piscitelli went 2-for-3 for the Scotties.

Troy pitcher Olivia Decistise struck out 15 batters and went 4-for-5 with three RBIs and three runs scored as the Flying Horses defeated Shaker, 13-5.
Emery Sawitzki earned the 14-2 win for Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons, giving up one hit over five innings and striking out eight against Middleburgh in Western Athletic Conference action. Tristin Wadsworth went 2-for-4 with a double and four RBI.

Alexi Broderick went 1-for-2 with a triple, a sacrifice fly, a run scored and three RBIs as Mayfield dropped Berne-Knox-Westerlo 13-5. Heather Ginter was 3-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI. Berne-Knox-Westerlo was led by Ashlee Stevens, who went 2-for-3 with a pair of triples and three runs scored. Madison Smith went 3-for-4 with a double.

Jenny Trembly gave up five hits and had 17 strikeouts to lead Canajoharie past Duanesburg 5-4. Giana Memrick had a double, three hits and three RBIs for the Cougars. For Duanesburg, Maddie Kenney had 12 strikeouts on the afternoon as Victoria Silva had two hits, including a triple.
Lauren Mesick, Caroline Serio and Suzie Smith each scored four goals as Holy Names defeated Catholic Central 19-6 in Colonial Council girls’ lacrosse action.

Averill Park defeated Schenectady High School girls’ track and field squad, 105-35 in a Suburban Council meet. Tabatha Adair won the triple jump with a leap of 30-09.25 and the Patriots 4×100-meter relay time ran to a 51.80 second first-place finish.
