Two men have died following two separate shooting incidents just hours apart Friday in Albany.
A 35-year-old man and 39-year-old man have died from shootings that occurred sometime around 3 p.m. and then another around 6:30 p.m., said Police Chief Eric Hawkins during a press conference Friday night.
Police responded around 3 p.m. to shots fired at First and Quail streets, where they found a man with a gunshot wound, according to tweets from department Public Information Officer Steven A. Smith.
Five other men were then found with gunshot wounds. They are all being treated at local hospitals.
Police were then seen responding to another man shot around 6:30 p.m. on Central Avenue and Henry Johnson Boulevard. No further details have been released on this shooting.
Hawkins said one person who was shot was an innocent bystander.
Both investigations are continuing. Anyone with information has been asked to contact the Capital Region Crime Stoppers at capitalregioncrimestoppers.com or call detectives at the Albany Police Department at 518-462-8039.
“We will not allow individuals to terrorize this community and to further traumatize, to further harm this community,” Hawkins said.
