Niskayuna High School plans to host its June 23 graduation ceremony at the Times Union Center, high school principal John Rickert announced Friday.
The district had originally outlined plans to host a graduation ceremony outside at the SUNY Schenectady parking lot but on Friday updated families that the plans had changed.
“After a review of the needs for this event and our options, we have decided to shift the location of graduation this year,” Rickert wrote in a message to students and families. “We truly appreciate the efforts of Schenectady County and Schenectady County Community College to provide a venue for the ceremony, but we feel that this will result in a better experience for our students, families and guests.”
The ceremony is scheduled to commence at 6 p.m. Tickets will be available through the Times Union Center website; Rickert said more details about how to obtain tickets would be forthcoming. Each graduate’s family receives a total of four tickets.
Times Union Center staff will manage COVID requirements, but attendees will need to show either proof of vaccination or evidence of a negative COVID test, according to Rickert’s message.
