SCHENECTADY – A woman police believed to have been the possible victim of an abduction has been found safe, police said late Thursday morning.

An update announcing Cassandra Thompson had been located did not immediately include further information on the circumstances of her disappearance.

Police, however, continue to actively look into the abduction allegations and she is speaking with detectives, a police spokesman said mid-day. She was also to be reunited with her mother.

Schenectady police Wednesday night had put out an alert to find the 26-year-old Troy resident based on third party information that she was being held against her will.

Police gave little information on the potential circumstances of the abduction, including the Schenectady connection, saying only that their information was that it “occurred within the confines of the Capital District.”

She lives in Troy and may be with a man known only as “Pops,” police said in the Wednesday alert.
