James Taylor is heading to the Capital Region and Central New York in August for two recently announced shows.
Taylor will perform at the Lakeview Amphitheater in Syracuse on Sunday, Aug. 22, and at Saratoga Performing Arts Center on Tuesday, Aug. 24. Prior to that he’s slated to be at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts on Saturday, Aug. 21.
The performances are part of Taylor’s tour with singer-songwriter Jackson Browne.
“We didn’t want to have to cancel this tour that we’ve been waiting so long to perform together so we’ve been working to get these dates rescheduled to a time period when the U.S. is reopened and safe to gather for a concert,” Taylor wrote in a statement.
The tour was originally set to include a stop at Tanglewood on Aug. 31, but that show has been postponed until July 4, 2022, due to local COVID-19 restrictions.
“The Tri-Town Health Department has put a limit on audience size this summer. No more than 9,000 people will be permitted to attend any concert,” Taylor wrote in a statement. “At this point, more than 15,000 people bought tickets for our August show and trying to organize the displacement of over 6,000 ticket holders in an impossible task. . . . We acknowledge and support the Tri-Town Health Department’s responsibility to protect our citizens’ well-being but it’s frustrating to have to ask you to wait until the 4th of July next year.”
Tickets for the SPAC and Lakeview Amphitheater shows go on sale at 10 a.m. Tuesday. For information, visit tour.jamestaylor.com.
