CLIFTON PARK – An Albany woman drove drunk with a young child in her car last week in Clifton Park, state police said.
Julia A. Bejarano, 36, of Albany, was arrested last Tuesday and charged with one count of felony driving while intoxicated under Leandra’s Law, along with misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child and resisting arrest.
Bejarano is accused of driving drunk with the child in her car just after 4 p.m. last Tuesday on Main Street in Clifton Park, state police said.
Troopers made the stop after receiving a report of an erratic driver. They arrived, found the car and made the stop. While speaking with the driver, identified as Bejarano, the trooper could smell alcohol and saw the child in a car seat.
Bejarano then failed field sobriety tests. As the trooper attempted to place her in custody, she pulled away and became verbally abusive, state police said. She also refused to get in the patrol car, requiring the assistance from another patrol to take her for processing, troopers said.
She then refused to provide a breath sample at the station, state police said.
She was arraigned and she and the child were released to a sober third party, troopers said.
