Seeking refuge from assault of fireworks

Just where does the law (state or local) stand on fireworks?
It would seem that this year we will be subjected to an entire three-day weekend of noise that is nothing to celebrate for many households.
The explosions in the dark can be very traumatic for people with PTSD from various experiences and for many pets who are terrorized by the sound and concussions.
I have a dog who needs tranquilizers, which I hate to subject him to, to cope with the sensory assault.
Calls to the local police about the nuisance are pointless, since they obviously can’t be everywhere — and if they do come to quiet things they take no definitive action and the show resumes as soon as they’re out of sight.
I’d take my animals away for peace and quiet, but frankly don’t know where I’d find sanctuary from the “celebration.”
From experience, I know there’s no talking to neighbors who think that personal displays are their “right.”
If anyone can offer answers or suggest a place of relative refuge I’d like to hear them.

The working class needs its own party

It is unlikely that further significant legislation will pass before the 2022 elections.
Even so, Biden has shown with these infrastructure and climate plans that Democrats will continue to compromise with themselves to diminish the positive impact of any legislation that does pass.
This failure to seize the moment during the pandemic and recession to pass bold legislation to improve the lives and livelihoods of the working-class majority will enable heavy Democrat losses in 2022 and guarantee an obstructionist Republican Congress for the remaining two years.
In sum, Biden’s presidency is over.
Many are responsible for this failure, especially the Democrats themselves: determined to serve their corporate masters and thus continually snatch political defeat from the jaws of victory.
The entire ‘progressive’ apparatus is also culpable for uncritically supporting a conservative and capitalist politician (Biden) and party (Democrats).
‘Progressives’ made no demands before wholesale endorsing and campaigning for him.
They also browbeat anyone who had principled politics and refused to go along with this Trump-Biden false choice.
Electoral deplatforming of the Greens and an utterly feckless Democrat administration was the result.
In this, ‘progressives’ did more to defeat the Left than to defeat Trump.
Numerous organizations perpetrated this shameful farce nationally, but some local culprits include DSA, Citizen Action, All of Us, and VOCAL-NY. Stop wasting your time and resources on Democrats and on any pusillanimous organizations like these that support Democrats.
Working-class people must build their own organizations and their own political party now to advance their class interests.

The greatest con of all has been the GOP’s convincing of poor, working class people to vote against their economic self-interest by telling them that ‘illegals’ and minorities are going to take their jobs, and the government is going to take their guns. Trump’s Republican party gives tax breaks to corporations and Wall Street that do nothing for the average worker, and tried to take away their healthcare with nothing to replace it. The amount of poor people that rail against “Obamacare” as socialism, yet benefit from the “Affordable Care Act” (they’re the same thing!), just goes to show how well the GOP’s propaganda machine operates.

Matt you seem to be unaware that Democratic diversity programs are meant to have jobs go to those who have the right parents.

Let me break it down for you, Biden did not have a joint news conference because his aids would not let him. They knew that Putin would keep him on the stage for at least a couple of hours and he would be forced to answer questions that he has no answer for. CNN yesterday had one of the reporters say that they had covered four separate presidents and they have never seen a president with less access to the press and who was more protected by their aids. Biden came out on the world stage yesterday and said that he had a list of reporters to call on, how is that access to the President? How do we know what’s going on in the White House if only a select few reporters can ask questions? We know that those reporters are all giving Biden softball questions the one reporter yesterday that actually asked a question Biden flipped out on her. If you Democrats are all right with this then you definitely have a problem, I don’t care what party you’re from, this is a problem.

“My people came to me, [Director of National Intelligence] Dan Coats came to me and some others saying they think it’s Russia. I have President Putin, he just said it’s not Russia,” Trump said. “I will say this, I don’t see any reason why it would be.”

“I have great confidence in my intelligence people but I will tell you that President Putin was extremely strong and powerful in his denial today,” Trump said.

He added that Putin also offered to have Russian investigators work with the special counsel on the case of the 12 Russian officers indicted for hacking.

“I think that’s an incredible offer,” Trump said.

“Where is the server?” he said. “I want to know where is the server and what is the server saying?”

Zachary, it is quite obvious that you want Putin to “outdo” Biden who did what he said he would do in their Wed. meeting which is a lot more than Trump kowtowing to Putin for at least four years. Years ago republican Joe McCarthy would have labeled you a communist sympathizer and have you thrown in jail. Try rooting for our team.

I felt my IQ drop 100 points reading these explanations why Biden did this or that …The dumbing down of America continues…Matt I agree with you ..The republicans pulled off the biggest con job on the needy southern people ..And continue to …..The republicans should write a book on How to fool the people into voting against their best interest by using “Race, Guns and abortion”

President Lyndon B. Johnson said it best:

“If you can convince the lowest white man he’s better than the best colored man, he won’t notice you’re picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he’ll empty his pockets for you.”

Trump did well across the board in Nevada, garnering 45.9% of the vote, but he did even better among voters with a high school education or less. Fifty-seven percent of those voters supported him, according to entrance polls, courtesy of CNN.

The next closest candidate among high-school-or-less voters was Ted Cruz, who had 20%.

That’s a sizable gap of 37 percentage points.

Trump didn’t just win with less educated voters, or “poorly educated,” as he called them, he crushed it.

Zachery, I read your article about family businesses in Politico. First kudos for using a Left- Center sources and High Credibility rating.
My “opinion” is I would never go in business with James or Hunter. Poor businessmen it seems always looking for an angle. Not con men but poor business choices.
Also in the story was this,
“There’s no evidence that Joe Biden used his power inappropriately or took action to benefit his relatives with respect to these ventures. These entanglements could pose problems for Democrats as they seek to draw a contrast with President Donald Trump, who they accuse of corruption for mixing politics with his own family’s business ventures.

“Joe Biden needs to recognize it’s a problem,” said Richard Painter, a former chief White House ethics lawyer in the George W. Bush era, who recently became a Democrat. Painter said Biden should pledge that if he were elected president, he would ask his relatives to refrain from business practices that could pose ethical quandaries, such as taking foreign sources of financing.

“You can’t control your brothers. You can’t control your grown son. But you can put some firewalls in place in your own office,” Painter said.

Appears President Biden has followed that advice if your point was to taint him, but his brother and son leave a lot to be desired in ethics, like another well known previous family of former WH occpant.

Florida I posted from politico because they are a left-leaning site which means they sugar coated the story for Biden. The very third paragraph in the article says all you need to know about the Biden’s including Joe. Read the last sentence.

After the firing, the two large men escorted the fund’s president out of the firm’s midtown Manhattan office, and James Biden laid out his vision for the fund’s future. “Don’t worry about investors,” he said, according to the executive, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, citing fear of retaliation. “We’ve got people all around the world who want to invest in Joe Biden.”

Here is another from left leaning Politico;

LOW EXPECTATIONS, EASILY MET — President JOE BIDEN and Russian President VLADIMIR PUTIN, who met for about three hours this morning, agreed that the two countries would return ambassadors to their respective posts in Washington and Moscow after they were recalled earlier this year.

Matt–exactly…Putin was smirking with 45, knowing that the POTUS sided with HIM–the ex-KGB agent who commits all kinds of crimes–over our US intelligence. That was an appalling disgrace and embarrassment–never saw anything like it…seemed traitorous to me.
Biden said he did what he came there to do–find issues that they could agree on, focus on how cooperation will help US & Russia, and he let Putin know exactly where the US stands and drew clear lines, promising consequences. They agreed to resume nuclear talks and to return ambassadors to their posts.
It looked to me like Putin was defensive and back on his heels–certainly not smirking since he was not going to play THIS president. Putin spoke graciously of Biden, and knows Biden will follow through.
Biden shook his hand, but refused a joint conference, unwilling to give Putin a platform next to the US. Clearly not palsy-walsy like weak, impotent 45 who admires him and wants to rule like Putin’s authoritative police state. We’re back as leaders of the Free World–GO BIDEN!
P.S.–How does Zachary know that “his aids wouldn’t let him” ??

Zachery, All I can add to jclark124 comments is him, you or I could have done better with Putin than FG, he set such a low bar.
And thanks for using factual sources.

Question for any of the 1/6 deniers on here?
What explanation are we using today, this week, this month, whatever for who did it?
Antifa, Democrats dressed as FG supporters, tourists, the latest the FBI? (Probably missed a few)
Wouldn’t you want to know ?

Rosanne Boyland, a 34-year-old resident of Kennesaw, Georgia, was one of four civilians who died in the rioting, according to Washington, DC police.

Police did not disclose the cause of Boyland’s death.

However, Justin Winchell, a friend who accompanied Boyland to a Trump rally near the White House and marched with her to the Capitol, told Atlanta CBS affiliate WGCL that she was trampled to death in a massive crowd surge when protesters clashed with Capitol Police.

“I got my arm underneath her, that was pulling her out – pulling her out – and then another guy fell on top of her and another guy was just walking” over her, he said. “I mean, there was people crushed.”

In this excerpt from Politico I’ve replaced the call recorder’s name with (conservative activist) since that’s how they’re referred to once in the article, and it’s become clear that a significant portion of the right no longer feel constrained by things like civility and law and order. I don’t want to add to exposure of the caller’s identity and possibly jeopardize them. A good leader brings out the best in their followers. A corrupt one perversely brings out the worst.
“I really don’t want to have to end anybody’s life for the good of the people of the United States of America,” Braddock said at one point in the conversation last week, according to the recording exclusively obtained by POLITICO. “That will break my heart. But if it needs to be done, it needs to be done. Luna is a f—ing speed bump in the road. She’s a dead squirrel you run over every day when you leave the neighborhood.”

MIAMI — A little-known GOP candidate in one of Florida’s most competitive congressional seats was secretly recorded threatening to send “a Russian and Ukrainian hit squad” to a fellow Republican opponent to make her “disappear.”

During a 30-minute call with a conservative activist that was recorded before he became a candidate, William Braddock repeatedly warned the activist to not support GOP candidate Anna Paulina Luna in the Republican primary for a Tampa Bay-area congressional seat because he had access to assassins. The seat is being vacated by Rep. Charlie Crist (D-Fla.), who is running for governor.

“My polling people are going to charge me $20,000 to do a poll right before the primary. And if the poll says Luna’s gonna win, she’s gonna be gone. She’s gonna disappear,” Braddock said in the recorded call, pledging (conservative activist) to secrecy. “For the good of our country, we have to sacrifice the few. … For the better or the good of the majority of the people, we’ve got to sacrifice the few.”

Later in the call, (conservative activist) asked what would happen if “Luna is gonna win” and Braddock assured her that wouldn’t happen.

“She’s gonna be gone. Period. That’s the end of the discussion. Luna is not an issue,” he said.

(conservative activist) pushed him, asking “how do we make her go, though? I just don’t understand that.”

“I call up my Russian and Ukrainian hit squad, and within 24 hours, they’re sending me pictures of her disappearing,” he replied. “No, I’m not joking. Like, this is beyond my control this point.”

Asked if the killers were snipers, Braddock described them as, “Russian mafia. Close-battle combat, TEC-9s, MAC-10s, silencers kind of thing. No snipers. Up close and personal. So they know that the target has gone.”

Russian President Vladimir Putin slammed the door on state-media speculation that his U.S. counterpart Joe Biden was too old to go toe-to-toe with him after the two met Wednesday for their first summit.

“The image of President Biden that our, and even American, media present has nothing to do with reality,” Putin said in response to a Russian senator’s question if the U.S. president was suffering from what she called “dementia.”

“Biden’s a professional, you have to be very attentive with him so as not to miss anything. He doesn’t let anything get by, I assure you,” Putin, 68, said in televised comments.

The other Arizona election audit
Disaffected Republicans handed Arizona to Joe Biden

Benny White, a Republican who previously ran for Pima County Recorder, teamed up with Democrat Larry Moore, and Independent Tim Halvorsen, two retired executives from the election company Clear Ballot, to conduct their own unofficial audit into the votes cast during the November 2020 election in Maricopa County.

For several weeks, the trio pored over the cast vote record, a database showing the voting results of each of the 2.1 million ballots cast in Maricopa County.

The trio of analysts focused on voters who demonstrated a commitment to candidates from a single party. They only considered those ballots where voters cast a ballot a candidate of one party at least 8 of the 15 partisan races that were up for grabs in 2020.

They found that committed Republicans outnumbered the committed Democrats by 13,000 in Maricopa County, a number that should have benefited the Republican presidential candidate.

However, the analysts found there were more disaffected Republicans than Democrats in Maricopa County.

According to White, 59,800 people did not vote for Trump even though they voted mostly for Republicans down-ballot. Most of those renegade Republicans, 39,102 voters crossed over to vote for Biden.

Done for now, unless we have to suffer more flailing, desperate nonsense from righties.

(Joe Biden is not perfect. He wasn’t my choice. But as Putin is now acknowledging in his own macho way, we’re back on a path of sanity)

Back to chores.

For today’s post a very, very true story. I personally read it so that certainly makes it true. And now that I’m re-posting that obviously makes it truer:

Dilbert and Doreen Kneadabrain, the hard line Republican brother and sister team from Nob Lack, Ohio came up with what they believed to be a great idea while surfing some, most definitely no way disinformation Web sites. They read online, with absolutely certainty that if they married each other and had lots of kids their great gene pool would certainly strengthen the Republican party and it’s dwindling voting pool. (Doreen told the reporter she thought the word “pool” was “really cool!”)

“If we’re this smart just imagine how smart our kids will be!” Exclaimed Dilbert. “Wow, yeah, maybe one of our kids will be so smart that it’ll grow up to be a great Republican president like”….. Well, sorry to say things didn’t quite work out as expected for Dill and Doe. They eventually got Divorced. Dilbert is attempting to eke out a living repairing banjos and Doreen is deathly afraid to pick her nose for fear of hemorrhaging. Apparently she read somewhere something similar to what I posted yesterday. They both have vowed to never again vote for a Republican.

Be very careful who you vote for folks. – Can have disastrous consequences.

Again, I’m asking you what America got out of this summit? Putin got a lot out of it in terms of greater polling number in Russia and he got a pipeline after a hack on our oil pipeline.

Zachary–I answered it above–read it. And there’s more: Biden laid out 16 specific important areas that Putin better not cross. He laid down the line, so they could sort out how to move forward. What did you expect those 2 to accomplish in this first meeting when 45 sided against the US? Biden was backed by the G7 and NATO. Putin was alone.

Three kids were sitting on a bench in southeast Pennsylvania when adults came up to harass them about wearing masks.

“What are you doing out here?” a male adult’s voice asks the kids.

“What do you idiots — face mask—” a woman’s voice can be heard saying.

“Why are you wearing a mask?” the man asks.

“Where are your parents at?” the woman asks. “They have you out here masked?”

“You don’t need to wear them, you know that?” the man says.

“Why the hell you wearing a mask out? Where’s your mom and dad?” the woman asks.

The kids can be heard mumbling that the CDC said that it’s safer.

“How come you ain’t dead yet,” the man asks.

“Yeah,” the woman follows.

“Take it off!” the man says before the video cuts off.

The interesting part of the video is that it was the woman who appeared to be filming their attack on the kids. She had to have uploaded it to social media to further attack the youth.

The people in the video are following the instruction of Fox News host Tucker Carlson, who told viewers on April 26 that they should accost Americans they see wearing masks and call 911.

“So the next time you see someone in a mask on the sidewalk or on the bike path, do not hesitate,” Carlson told his audience. “Ask politely but firmly, ‘Would you please take off your mask? Science shows there is no reason for you to be wearing it. Your mask is making me uncomfortable.'”

“Call the police immediately, contact child protective services,” he told the Fox News audience.

ChuckD is posting a Twitter video supposedly of Trump voters harassing kids. How do you know they aren’t Biden voters? Talk about a stretch, how do you know that it’s not staged as most things are nowadays? Democrats are funny, if I post a Fox News story or a story from a conservative site the story according to you all is false, yet you post crap from CNN, MSNBC, MSM, and call it legitimate. FYI, AP and Reuters and AP are left-leaning as well.

No where in that post does it say anything political.
No where. And my posting it that way was very intentionally not political.
You have made the association for all of us, thank you.

What was Fox lawyers said about Tucker?

Fox News Lawyer Suggests No Reasonable Viewer Would Think Tucker Carlson is News

A attorney representing Fox News reportedly made an interrogative statement in federal court that directly called into question the news value of the network’s second-most popular prime time show.Fox News Lawyer Suggests No Reasonable Viewer Would Think Tucker Carlson is News

Do you believe Tucker is news? Hannity? Rachelle Maddow? He is not a journalist, he is a political commentator. He doesn’t bring you news he commentates on stories and has guests to either backup or refute his commentary of the story.

Rachel Maddow talks to Prime Time about verifiable events and verifiable facts. She invites correction. And if she’s found in error she freely admits and apologizes. That’s how adults work.
Fox News’ “commentators” talk to Prime Time about things they feel bad about, but rarely offer anything verifiable to validate their fears.

That’s Prime Time Fox!
And just to connect the dots…
“Trump didn’t just win with less educated voters, or ‘poorly educated,’ as he called them, he crushed it.” – USA Today.

Guy Varoma, Living here in Florida I can tell you that strategy works great for Republicans. The Republicans control all three branches and have for over 20 years. A moderate Republican from upstate NY would be considered a radical left wing socialist Democrat here in a lot of areas.

Ms. Swanson, you want to make fun of Florida because they are Republican, people are fleeing New York state by the tens of thousands because this is a democrat liberal state. Guess where they’re going, Florida and Texas because they are republican states. In my entire life, I’ve lived all over the country I’ve never ever heard anyone say I’m moving to New York when I retire.

Well, it appears people are not “fleeing NY” after all, are they?
You just keep blurting out your night terrors though. We’re here to help.
