AMSTERDAM — A man suffered at least one gunshot in the throat and head area in a shots fired incident in the city Friday, police said.
Police described the man’s injuries as non-life-threatening. Amsterdam Police Det. Lt. Sal Megna told The Recorder the man was shot by an unknown individual in the middle of the street in front of 92 Union St. and was airlifted to Albany Medical Center.
In a release, police issued around 5:30 p.m. Friday, the time of the incident was not specified. The incident remained under investigation at press time.
There is not believed to be any threat to the general public related to the incident, police said. City police were investigating incoming leads related to the shooting.
The Amsterdam Police Department is being assisted in the investigation by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department and the state police aviation unit.
