The Animal Protective Foundation will offer low cost spay and neuter services for pit bull and pit bull mixes starting July 1, using a grant from the Kelly Family Cuidiu’ Foundation.
While funding lasts, pet owners can get their pit bull or pit bull mixes spayed or neutered at APF’s Community Spay/Neuter Clinic at a cost of $40 for adult dogs and $26 for puppies six months or younger. The clinic, located at 53 Maple Ave. in Glenville, is open Monday through Thursday.
“There are so many homeless pit bulls in shelters because they are very expensive to spay or neuter due to their large size and because they have such large litters … sometimes 10 puppies per litter,” said Austin Gates, the executive director of the foundation in a press release. “This amazing spay/neuter special will help reduce the number of homeless pit bulls in shelters and is a great opportunity for pit bull owners to save hundreds of dollars!”
