Mechanicville High School
Anthony Chet Fiacco
PARENTS: Anthony and Larissa Fiacco
COLLEGE OR OTHER PLANS: Attending University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, majoring in biomedical sciences with a physician assistant studies specialization (and I will also be on their DII golf team).
AFTER COLLEGE: After grad school, I would like to find a job as a physician assistant in the orthopedic field.
WHAT HAS BEEN THE HARDEST PART OF THE LAST YEAR OF SCHOOL and THE MOST REWARDING: Not being there every day with the teachers in person. I’m so grateful for the effort my teachers have put into pushing us along, but I think most will agree there is nothing comparable to being present in a classroom every day. The most rewarding was learning how to be more independent. [The pandemic] definitely pushed me to keep myself in check during online class and pay attention.
WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED ABOUT YOURSELF DURING THE PANDEMIC/HOW HAVE YOU CHANGED: I have a really bad procrastination problem and I need to fix that for college. I’ve changed in many ways, but the most beneficial one was learning how to deal with failure. A few years ago I’d basically shut down over any bad grade or poor performance. Now I’m able to learn from those experiences and embrace them.
WHAT IS THE MEMORY OF SCHOOL YOU WILL NEVER FORGET/WHAT WILL YOU MISS MOST ABOUT HIGH SCHOOL: I will never forget having my senior year (and last quarter of my junior year) turned upside down due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I will miss my friends. I’ve grown up with these people. I will also miss not having a lot responsibilities. I like to say that the free trial is over and now I have to pay.
WHAT’S IN YOUR MUSIC PLAYER: The Weeknd and Kanye West.
FAVORITE BOOK OR AUTHOR: I don’t really have a favorite book or author, but I will read any book in the genre of history.
BEST PART ABOUT GRADUATING: Will be moving on to the next chapter of my life. Although Philadelphia is going to be a massive change from Mechanicville, I’m excited for the new experiences to come.
WHO OR WHAT INSPIRES YOU: My biggest inspiration has to be my papa Chet. Even though he is no longer with us, the lessons he taught me are always on my mind and I’m always thinking of him.
