Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville High School
PARENTS: Eric and Marcia Watson
COLLEGE OR OTHER PLANS: Potentially attend FMCC
AFTER COLLEGE: Work in the IT field.
WHAT HAS BEEN THE HARDEST PART OF THE LAST YEAR OF SCHOOL and THE MOST REWARDING: The hardest part of this last year of school has definitely been the hybrid learning model, and having to join classes remotely from home, especially due to having had a poor internet connection up until recently. The most rewarding part of this year is being able to do everything I needed to, even in the face of adversity coming from being in a pandemic, in order to not only graduate, but also to come out at the top of my class.
WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED ABOUT YOURSELF DURING THE PANDEMIC/HOW HAVE YOU CHANGED: I have found that outside of a select few individuals, I didn’t really talk to anyone, which is something that I have been working on changing and have found relative success.
WHAT IS THE MEMORY OF SCHOOL YOU WILL NEVER FORGET/WHAT WILL YOU MISS MOST ABOUT HIGH SCHOOL: I will never forget the time that I sat at the piano in the hallway outside of the auditorium playing songs for nearly an hour after school. The thing that I will miss most about high school is going to the band room to hang out during pretty much any free time I had.
WHAT’S IN YOUR MUSIC PLAYER: Rock ’n’ Roll
FAVORITE BOOK OR AUTHOR: “Ready Player One” by Ernest Kline
BEST PART ABOUT GRADUATING: The flexibility to be able to do more things that I want to do.
WHO OR WHAT INSPIRES YOU: My greatest inspiration comes from my band directors Ms. Mott and Ms. Thayer, who have dedicated themselves to helping their students to succeed in not only their educational careers, but also in their lives.
